E.C.O. Germany - Your partner for protected area's management

E.C.O. aims at professionally supporting communication, management and planning processes in protected areas.

The abbreviation E.C.O. means

Ecology: ecological competence,
Communication: communication, information and moderation, adapted to the needs of specific target groups and
Organisation: structured, reliable and goal oriented project implementation.

World wide protected areas are nominted with the aim of slowing down the ongoing loss of biodiversity. By 2020, at least 17 per cent of terrestrial and inland water areas shall be conserved through a well connected system of protected areas. However, despite of a growing number of protected areas, the depleting of species continues. The objective to halt the loss of biodiversity until 2010 was not achieved. This means: the efforts have to be intensified - especially during the UN Decade on Biodiversity (2011 until 2020). To reduce the loss of biodiversity a multiplicity of stakeholders of all social stratums has to be involved in all efforts of conserving and using biodiversity in a sustainable manner. Only that way the treasures of nature and its free of charge services can be preserved for subsequent generations.
